About

Veronica Sekella – Interior Decorator

I grew up with parents who lived during the depression looking for food and work. My family did a lot of “repurposing” of items to maximise usefulness. We were “green” years ago. I learned how to be resourceful and being creative. I enrolled in art and home economics classes that were offered in high school. I would change up rooms to create a different look with artwork and décor I had created.

Graduating in Interior Design at Mount Royal and having purchased three homes in Calgary over the years and I have renovated, redesigned and staged my own homes many times. Initially I knew exactly what will make the home feel comfortable and appealing. As time goes on I tweak to suit many lifestyles and create a functional environment.

I am intuitive with noticing what is not suitable in certain spaces. My “fresh eyes” paired with an awesome “sense of style” have benefited my family and friends over the years.

Presently I am working with clients wanting to individualize their space, commercial businesses who
want clients to be comfortable and realtors who are selling houses in Calgary.

Veronica Sekella – Contemporary Artist Calgary

I was born and raised in the Crowsnest Pass, surrounded by unbelievable beauty. The mountains gave me a sense of stability; the waterfalls gave me a sense of movement; and the wildflowers gave me a sense of color. I felt complete, connected and inspired.

The opportunity to explore my creative side began in school leading to various art courses in Mount Royal, including art history and art techniques. Further studies in art styles have provided me with the encouragement to experiment with the colors of nature using various mediums. I work with acrylic, pouring mediums, sand, and mixed medium on canvas or panel. Metallic paint in my art adds a luster, subtly showing through the other elements of my creations.

When I paint I lose myself in my work, it becomes a part of me and I am a part of the art. My works portray colors that appeal to my inner sense of joy, and my work has movement that brings life to the piece.

I have been creating artwork as far back as high school to present day. For the past few years my full time has been dedicated to my creativity.

“I wanted a way to show our staff just how much we appreciate them. I decided to completely redo the staff room as it was extremely cluttered, mismatched and disorganized. I asked Veronica to help me. She was in total support of my wishes to make a relaxing, rejuvenating space for our team and was excited to help me create the transformation over a weekend. It was a huge job and she went above and beyond to help me accomplish it. It looks and feels amazing and the whole team love it.
I feel a deep sense of appreciation for her. Thanks Veronica!”

Thank you for the help with selling my home. So many suggestions you made that I can incorporate easily, and at little or no cost.

I love it when you took the time to move things around, hiding household items in my cupboards and arranging what I already had into a pleasing decorative look. I walk into the rooms and see your designs everywhere in my house.

I would like to book a follow up appointment sometime this year so we could continue the design process in my new house.

Regards, Margaret Bourassa
