Space Planning & Color Schemes for a Warehouse Move

The Disability Services Agency project that I worked on was a (warehouse move) of over 6000 square feet on two levels. It included space planning for staff and the creation of a comfortable effective setting for disability clients.

My challenges were working with well used or donated furniture of various colours, adapting needs to limited space with existing window treatments and meeting the client specific needs for wheelchairs, lockers, laundry, meeting, and kitchen areas.

The colours that I suggested were based on the psychology of the color and had to match window coverings. The final colours selected were soothing to create a calm and serene environment. Nature photos, color art from storage and art pieces from clients were used on the walls.

The tile flooring I had picked was a neutral, calming color and is easy to maintain.
Lighting and noise control were not to be addressed until a later date.

The overall sense in the environment now is … a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.
